Partypoker’s successful annual online poker tournament, Pokerfest, has commenced with the final due to take place on the 8th of November. The 80-event extravaganza sees at least $2.5 million paid out over the course of 15 days and is a popular event on every online poker fan’s calendar.

The 2015 Pokerfest online festival kicked off in earnest on Sunday 25th October with the first 12 of 80 scheduled events and almost $575,000 worth of guaranteed prize pools for players to compete for. The tournament was not without its complications, however, as it had previously been scheduled to take place on the 27th September earlier this year but the organisers were forced to postpone for a month. On the afternoon of Friday 25th September, the decision was taken to postpone Pokerfest for a month, as performance issues caused by recent updates to the partypoker software had caused difficulties within the site.

Partypoker’s network director of games labels, Golan Shaked, apologised to those expecting to play for a share of the $2.5 million prize pools and promised the disappointed players a $50,000 freeroll as a way of compensating them for any inconvenience caused. He issued a statement regarding the postponement, “I apologise to our loyal players for having to delay this highly anticipated event. With a total prize pool of $2,500,000 up for grabs, we are not willing to take even the slightest risk with our players’ experience during the 80 events that make up Pokerfest.”

Players who had already registered for any of the Pokerfest events were promised that their buy-ins would be credited back to their account, while tickets won via satellites would remain valid for the new revised Pokerfest schedule.

All the online poker tournament aficionados who had been looking forward to the $2,500,000 guaranteed Pokerfest had to wait another month to get stuck into the poker action, but the tournament successfully started and players were satisfied by the eventual smooth running of the games.

To encourage players to compete in as many Pokerfest events as possible, Partypoker created a Pokerfest Mission which would award Pokerfest entries to those playing in multiple events. Players who entered in 10 Pokerfest events and then increased this to 20 Pokerfest events would be awarded with a $10 Pokerfest entry. Players completing 30 events would receive a $20 entry for free.
